Searching the RMO Archives can be done in several ways:

  • Through the tiles below. Click on them. On the next page, you can filter by date and sort by date and alphabet in the left column. Finally, clicking through takes you to the lowest level of individual records.
  • Via the “Museumarchief” field in the upper left. Here you will find an overview of all main and subcategories. Finally, clicking through takes you to the lowest level of the individual records. Again, there is the option of filtering on the left by date and sorting by date and alphabet.
  • Via the search field “Zoeken” at the top right. Clicking on it will take you to a screen with two boxes. Via the upper box you can search generally, via the lower box you can search extensively, for example in the letter archive 1818-1923. In the advanced search, select a category on the left. On the right, you can choose a period.

Note: You will only get a search result if you use exactly the words that appear in the archive descriptions. Thus, no search result does not necessarily mean that there is nothing of interest in the archive. Also you are searching in an archive of a Dutch institution. Because of this, most of the archive documents and descriptions are in Dutch.
Tip: When filtering, always take the time period a little wider. For example, if you are looking for a record from 1980, it may be in a folder with the period 1978-1983.
